20-metre shielded Cat.6 FTP patch cable from Gembird, with AWG26 conductors and 8P8C connectors. Provides stable, interference-resistant connections for home and office networks.
About this product
The Gembird PP6-20M is a shielded twisted pair (FTP) Cat.6 patch cable designed for reliable Ethernet networking. With a length of 20 metres, it is suitable for connecting devices across larger rooms or for installations requiring extended reach. The cable uses AWG26 conductors and features molded strain relief on the connectors to prevent damage from bending. The 8P8C connectors with 50 microinch contacts ensure good conductivity and durability. It supports Gigabit Ethernet and is a practical choice for users needing a quality shielded network cable.
What can you use it for?
- Connect a desktop computer to a router or switch in a distant room, taking advantage of its 20-metre length.
- Install a wireless access point or IP camera in a location where shielded cable is needed to minimise electromagnetic interference.
- Replace a damaged network cable in an office, ensuring a stable connection thanks to its 8P8C connectors and strain relief.
Its strengths
- FTP shielding reduces interference and crosstalk, improving signal integrity in environments with electrical noise.
- Molded strain relief protects the cable at connection points, increasing durability.
- 8P8C connectors with 50 microinch contacts ensure good conductivity and corrosion resistance.
Things to consider before buying
- The 20-metre length may be excessive for short connections, leaving extra cable to manage.
Product questions
Is this cable compatible with Gigabit Ethernet networks?
Yes, as a Cat.6 cable it supports speeds up to 1 Gbps over distances up to 100 metres, making it suitable for Gigabit Ethernet.
What does FTP mean for this cable?
FTP stands for Foiled Twisted Pair, meaning the twisted pairs are wrapped in an overall foil shield. This helps protect the signal from external electromagnetic interference.
Are the connectors compatible with all RJ45 ports?
Yes, the 8P8C connectors are the standard for RJ45 ports, so they are compatible with most network devices such as routers, switches, computers, and consoles.
